CAT VIDEO FEST
We all have a "happy place" we go to on occasion, and mine is the Music Box Theatre in Chicago, currently offering their excellent programming online. The Cat Video Fest was a fun diversion and made the perfect intermission for our Terrible 19 Movies Marathon. The admission for the "best of" Cat Video Fest is pay-what-you-can (after forcing the cats to watch Samurai Cop, we figured we owed them), but all of the films the Music Box would currently be screening are available through their Virtual Cinema: from the documentary Capital in the Twenty-First Century by Justin Pembeton, to the midnight movie tale of succubus sex-education, Porno by Keola Racela. All films are screening via KinoMarquee for $12.00. Facets Cinema in Chicago (my other happy place) has a similar setup through KinoMarquee, and Jen and I tried it out the other night with the possession comedy Extra Ordinary. Happy isolation needs great movies! Donate to these classic Chicago cinemas tonight!
Also, check out this mini-doc that takes you inside the Music Box, the projection booth, and makes the case for watching movies on film. Shot by my friend and former student, Husni Ashiku.
